Hammer Brothers are said to be advanced Koopa Troopas with helmets. They usually have a big store of hammers around them. Hammer Bros. usually travel in pairs, though they are still dangerous when they are alone. They are killed by either jumping on their heads, which can be hard, or destroying the block they are standing on. As nearly always, a fire ball works too.

Misc. Notes:
- In Super Mario Bros. 3, you could actually get a Hammer Bros. Suit. With the suit, you had the ability to throw hammers. You are also able to get a Hammer by defeating the Hammer Bros. These are used to break rocks on the map screen.
- In Super Mario RPG, you must save Toad from a Hammer Brother (you actually fight two). after defeating them both, you get your first weapon, a Hammer.
- In SMB3, Sledge Bro, a gigantic version of a Hammer Bro appears in World 4. Also, in Super Mario World, there was a special type of a Hammer Bro, called an Amazing Flying Hammer Bro. They can throw hammers while standing on two blocks with wings.
